Clouds

One of my earliest memories of my interest in weather began with clouds. I would take pictures of the different types and forms in the sky. I still do every once in awhile, and I thought I would put up a few of the photos I have taken over the past few years. You can't really tell, but this is the closest I have gotten to a tornado. Just in the trees is a rotating wall cloud, although not very well defined. This passed just to the east of my apartment here in Stillwater. The radar image shows the storms during this evening on the 1st day of May 2008.

This next photo was taken during sunrise of what look like some mid-level broken clouds. One thing you will know about me is that I love the combination of science and art in the field of meteorology. Sometimes it looks like the sky is just one big canvas...
.............. .............. .............. .............. .............. .............. .............. .............. .............. .............. .............. .............. .............. Cumulus Humilis clouds during a field project June 2008. Which also produced the wettest June on record in Oklahoma, and..... re-energized a tropical storm over the state. Some of the clouds were more of a coastal origin that your typical Oklahoma summer shallow Cu. You can also see how moist the atmosphere was... .................................................................................

My favorite cloud is the cumulonimbus. This one was taken on a hike to Ensign Peak in Salt Lake City.
I wish I had better pictures of the large thunderstorms.
I also am including a photo of some cirrus clouds, since my master's research dealt with those. More pictures to come later. Such as this one. What may look like a beginnings of a tornado is actually a cold air funnel. I can also add some of my cloud paintings.
